Angels and Demons
Angles and demons are portrayed and discussed everywhere -- from statues and paintings to poems and songs to the Internet. But are they understood correctly? R. C. Sproul, in this video series, seeks to challenge many of the modern myths regarding these other worldly beings by offering a Biblical view and understanding of the spiritual realm.
Time permitting, a portion of the semester will be devoted to a discussion of AFFECTIONATELY YOURS, SCREWTAPE, a short book written by C. S. Lewis with imaginative letters between two devils. This writing gives insight into conquering everyday struggles. The class will explore the Biblical, historical and cultural depictions of Satan and hell in order to gain a deeper understanding of the nature of temptation and redemption. This class, intended especially for the young adults, will be taught by Dick Symons.
The Minor Prophets
The Old Testament is closed out by twelve books known as the Minor Prophets. This is probably the section of Scripture least read and understood by Christians today. Yet these books are exceedingly relevant to us when we understand them properly. This quarter, we will survey each of these books in turn so that we will better understand their historical settings, major themes, unique messages, and how they each point to the person and work of Jesus Christ. This class will be taught by Tim Krizan.
Peacemakers
Are you experiencing conflict in your day to day life? Are there disparaging situations with a coworker, with a friend, with a family member, with your neighbor or even with a fellow believer? Well this winter quarter there will be a Sunday school class offered entitled "Peacemakers" to address such challenges we all face. This class will be using material specifically designed to help us understand conflict and how to deal with conflict. The class will use a video series and a Participant Guide. Although not required, it is recommended that participants also purchase the book "The Peacemaker" by Ken Sande. To sample the material, the first chapter can be downloaded here. Persons interested in participating in this class should contact . The Participant Guide cost is $5. "The Peacemaker" book is $13. Steve will be placing the order on December 26th. Money can be saved on shipping if we purchase the books as a group. Prayerfully, with the Bible in one hand and the "Peace maker" materials in the other, we will by the grace of God, all grow in our efforts to love each other and to live in greater peace and harmony.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9
Christian View of Environmentalism
